Dubai is betting on its archaeological heritage with a plan that will change tourism

Dubai strengthens its policies that promote tourism and attempt to revalue its cultural and archaeological heritage. In this regard, Dubai Culture, which is responsible for caring for the art of the emirate, established an agreement with local authorities to contribute to the protection of archaeological assets.

With this agreement, the aim is to enhance the city as an outstanding tourist destination in which, in addition to its opulent buildings, the different historical and cultural assets present there are taken into account. In this regard, representatives of Dubai Culture insist on caring for and preserving the various archaeological sites.

Under this objective, Dubai Culture signed a collaboration agreement in which Nasser Al Neyadi, chief executive officer of Ports, Customs and Free Zone Corporation, and Colonel Mubarak Saeed Al Ketbi, director of the Organized Crime Department of the Dubai Police, participated. In this document, they agreed to develop instruments to improve archaeological inspections by including technological and digital tools.

Under this agreement, the city continues with its objective of becoming a key global point and leader in tourism and culture. Therefore, with this project, it aims to ensure the physical protection of archaeological sites and guarantee the swift action of authorities in situations that may threaten the integrity of cultural assets.

Among the most important items of this work plan were the possibility of providing specialized training for personnel for the preservation of historical assets, as well as the digitization of databases for better access to the necessary information. With this new project, it is also intended that the population becomes aware of the importance of maintaining and preserving these assets of enormous historical value. “We are committed to building solid cooperation to improve the management of the archaeological sites under our mandate,” said the authorities of Dubai Culture.

In addition to preserving the cultural heritage of the emirate, this memorandum can significantly contribute to attracting greater investment and tourism to this part of the United Arab Emirates. Furthermore, the commitment was made to apply Dubai’s sustainability policies, contributing to its long-term vision as a top-tier tourism and culture destination with broader and more efficient access to archaeological information.
