The inauguration of these two new bridges in Zaa’beel and Al Quoz 1 on Al Khail Road marks a milestone in the development project of this important thoroughfare. With a total length of 1,350 meters and a combined capacity of 8,000 vehicles per hour, these bridges are a response to the growing demand for mobility in the city.

The Al Khail Road development project covers a total area of 3,300 meters, with the construction of bridges and the widening of lanes along 6,820 meters. The RTA has confirmed that the project has already reached 80% completion, demonstrating the institution’s commitment to delivering results on time and with the highest quality.

The improvements implemented on Al Khail Road extend to seven key points: Al Jaddaf, Business Bay, Zaa’beel, Meydan, Al Quoz 1, Ghadir Al Tair, and Jumeirah Village Circle, ensuring a comprehensive optimization of vehicular flow throughout the entire route.

  • Increased capacity of intersections: The construction of bridges and the widening of lanes have increased the capacity of existing intersections by 19,600 vehicles per hour, contributing to a more efficient traffic flow.
  • Improved traffic efficiency: The enhancements on Al Khail Road have optimized traffic flow and resolved merging issues at elevated crossings, ensuring smoother and safer transit.

The director general and chairman of the board of directors of the RTA, Mattar Al Tayer, has highlighted the strategic importance of this project. “The development of Al Khail Road is a key project that aims to extend parallel and supporting road corridors to Sheikh Zayed Road, Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road, and Emirates Road.”

Investment in road infrastructure such as that of Al Khail Road not only boosts the efficiency of urban transport but also promotes the economic and social development of Dubai, consolidating its position as a global business and tourism hub.
