Alserkal Avenue, the warehouse turned art paradise highlighted by Lonely Planet as the secret of the Emirates

Alserkal Avenue is one of the less-explored tourist alternatives that offers a pleasant option for art lovers. Alserkal Avenue was inaugurated in 2008 and started as a different promenade near Dubai with some shops and art galleries. However, over time, everything transformed, and this site became a vibrant destination with a wide variety of activities, gastronomy, and music.

This particular avenue, located in the Al Quoz neighborhood, aims to provide a new perspective on Dubai where, in addition to luxury and eccentric buildings, the artistic diversity of the city is also highlighted in one space, similar to the most emblematic art districts in other parts of the world, such as Shoreditch in London and the Meatpacking District in Manhattan.

Alserkal Avenue, a commercial area with great local artists.

Abdelmonem bin Eisa Alserkal is the founder of this site who, over time, has created a platform for local artists and creatives in Dubai to connect with other artistic landscapes. Together with Vilma Jurkute, director of Alserkal Avenue, they formed a community of artists who have made their mark on the local scene. This district, which was built around a large marble warehouse, also features various spaces and galleries, including Ayyam Gallery, one of the first to open in the city.

Within the scene proposed by this picturesque gallery, visitors can also enjoy Green Art Gallery, where works by contemporary and emerging artists from the region and abroad can be found. Additionally, The Third Line allows visitors to acquire limited edition prints, books, and other collectible items. Furthermore, Carbon 12 is known for exhibiting international artists and offers an attractive agenda of artistic and cultural events.

Alserkal Avenue is not only a space for art and artistic expressions in Dubai but also offers a culinary concept that adds the necessary plus to make it a worthy place to visit. This avenue features a series of restaurants and cafés, including Visite A4 Space, a café and permanent creative work space, and Wild & The Moon, one of the favorite spots for regulars in the district.

For those who choose to visit this complex, Nightjar can be found, a café that serves customized espressos and healthy salads and also features musical shows as part of its offering. Tea time is also covered at Project Chaiwalla, located in the Cinema Akil building. For sweet lovers, there is Ganache Chocolatier, a brand born in Dubai that sources the highest quality ingredients from countries like Switzerland, Belgium, and France to create top-notch handmade chocolates.

In addition to enjoying art exhibitions, Alserkal Avenue also offers a holistic experience at DNA Wellness. This establishment features meditation activities and treatments in homeopathy and traditional Chinese medicine, among other things.

Visitors can also take advantage of other offerings such as the contemporary yoga studio Shimis or the fitness studio Crank. For those looking for an express makeover, beauty salons are also an option in this complex. Chalk is the well-known beauty salon where some of the best stylists in the city work.
