Real estate investors continue to increase their interest in Dubai, and a new giant from the Netherlands has presented a project to revitalize the Expo City, to promote what is known as the Master Plan. This project in Expo City Dubai, which will take place on the site of the Dubai Expo 2020, aims to maintain the spirit of the event, preserving a large percentage of the buildings and infrastructure.
The company that will carry out this development is called UNStudio and has the objective of creating “a new center for the future of Dubai”, preserving the essence of what was built around the Dubai Expo held in 2020 and which left a series of spaces that are attracting the attention of investors.
The Dutch master plan to transform Dubai
The projects led by UNStudio are part of the aforementioned Dubai Master Plan, which will include various hubs. The plan structured by this company will feature five districts called Expo Downtown, Expo Fields, Expo Hills, Expo Business, and Expo Valley, which will include a series of buildings and villas ideal for establishing a new life outside the center of Dubai.
All these areas within this region will appeal to healthy living and sustainable constructions, following the city’s goals for the future. Some of these residences will make up low-density residential neighborhoods and spaces dedicated to “healthy living”. The buildings will vary between high and low, combined with spaces for outdoor recreation for all residents.
A new living center in Dubai
The complex UNStudio will be designed for 35,000 residents, 37,000 professionals, and around 50,000 visitors per year. All these constructions will maintain an innovative design that adopts environmentally friendly practices, aiming for a high standard of living and well-being for its residents. This plan follows UNStudio’s vision of sustainability, mobility, and opportunity as seen in Expo City Dubai, ensuring that all developments adhere to this framework.
For this reason, the design of this space by the Dutch studio includes green spaces aimed at achieving a “holistic and nature-based development”, as explained on their official website. Within this framework, the Urban Expo Forest was created to enhance local biodiversity.
A bit of history: what was Expo Dubai 2020
Expo Dubai 2020 was the first World Expo held in the city and attracted more than 24 million visitors over its six-month run. Today, it is a hub of modern villas, business centers, cultural sites, entertainment spaces, gastronomic centers under a sustainable policy.
This site will be further enhanced with the inauguration of the Al Maktoum International Airport in 2030, making it a transit hub for passengers and visitors to the United Arab Emirates. The so-called Master Plan includes hotels, organic restaurants, a wide cultural agenda, serving as a warm welcome for those experiencing Emirati culture for the first time.
