Downtown Circle is one of the many ambitious projects in Dubai that promises to change the architectural history of the city forever. Downtown Circle is a true floating community that will surround the iconic Burj Khalifa and will feature sustainable technology, making this space unique in the world.
This is an innovative project by the company Znera Space that aims to lead the forefront of architecture in the United Arab Emirates, without losing the essence of sustainable energy nor altering urban sustainability and the tranquility that this type of space imposes.
What Downtown Circle Will Be Like
The Downtown Circle is a true floating city that will be built around the Burj Khalifa at 550 meters in height. Its design resembles a gigantic ring, with a circumference of 3 kilometers, where there will be various residences, shopping centers, and even green spaces with suitable vegetation for the enjoyment of all its residents.
The company Znera Space teamed up with Najamus Chowdhry and Nils Rams to carry out this project that has a single objective: to put an end to vertical design and introduce a new circular trend to transform Dubai’s skyline. What is innovative about this new space is that it also applies never-before-seen sustainable technological mechanisms that even change the way residents of this true city in the air move around.
Controlled Climate and Transportation, the Unique Details of Downtown Circle
The Downtown Circle will rise as a circular and floating community that must ensure its residents’ transportation modes within it. To achieve this, a capsule system will be implemented that will transport passengers at a speed of 100 km/h, within the space where they will be able to enjoy unique views of Dubai.
The climate will also play a key role in the development of this project, in which a specific microclimate will be established. There will also be a focus on the use of clean and solar energy with the installation of panels for this purpose. This ring will have five levels with offices, research centers, housing, commercial, and cultural spaces, where green spaces and vegetation will be part of its structure.
When Downtown Circle Will Be Completed
The construction of Downtown Circle is part of Dubai’s so-called 2040 Master Plan, which is why this building will be ready by that year. However, before its inception, the company in charge of the project will have to face the authorities of the United Arab Emirates, who must approve its construction. If approved, this ring around Burj Khalifa will define the city’s skyline and mark a new model for future communities, where vertical sites will become part of the past.
On this monumental project, the developers spoke and confirmed the challenges they will face in the future. “Something that could make people rethink urban development, rethink city congestion. We are promising the sustainable city,” said the architects Najamus Chowdhry and Nils Rams, in charge of the construction. “The reason we chose the Burj Khalifa is because it is located in a very dense urban area, and we want to address the issues that come with dense urban populations,” they added.
