The new million-dollar wonder of Dubai: flying taxis that are already dominating the skies

Dubai has a new million-dollar wonder that can bring the most futuristic movies to life. In Dubai, 2026 will be the moment when cars fly and, as seen in Back to the Future, this fantasy could become a reality.

In the coming years, the invention called Midnight will be unveiled, where flying taxis will begin to soar through the skies, fulfilling the desires of the most futuristic thinkers and allowing them to move from place to place without wasting time in traffic.

Midnight, as this million-dollar project is called, is not a conventional taxi but rather a vehicle that will travel through the skies. This marvel consists of an electric airplane designed to carry four passengers with vertical takeoff and landing capabilities. Its innovative mechanism includes a dozen independent propellers to reduce risks and a wing that allows it to glide in case of engine failure.

In this way, the Midnight appears as one of the most eco-friendly transport variants that will initially begin flying in the skies of the United States before reaching Dubai. These taxis also have a range of 160 kilometers and a speed of 240 kilometers per hour. It is estimated that the flying car sector will reach a value of 150 billion dollars by 2035, making its investment monumental, as is the case with projects of this nature.

The air taxis will have their own landing space and, as mentioned earlier, this system will be vertical. The place where these “flying cars” will marvelously be able to land and take off is called vertiports, which comes from the words vertical and port and refers to a takeoff and landing space for drones in a city.

Skyports Infrastructure Vertiport is the company in charge of developing these particular airports, which will position the city of Dubai as the first to develop these sites and maintain a “fully developed network” of this type of transportation. Initially, it was stated that test flights of these taxis would take place in California, where approval from the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration is expected, while Dubai and India are estimated to be the next countries where this project will be launched. The flights are expected to cost around 3.60 euros, although this value is expected to decrease in the initial flights.
