The nighttime journey through Paris that ends in a surprising secret corner of Abu Dhabi

Paris is also in Abu Dhabi, and the most French adventures can also be experienced in this location. Abu Dhabi has unique spaces of absolute beauty, one of which is the now-famous Louvre Abu Dhabi, a museum that brings the best of the well-known French building where art and immersive experiences come together to provide a wonderful experience.

But beyond the familiar, in the magnificent building of the Louvre located in the capital of the United Arab Emirates, another way to explore Paris can also be discovered. The space offers a unique adventure that provides an experience going beyond artworks and the cultural offerings: a true journey through the waters that surround it, which can also be done on a full moon and appears as an alternative way to discover all the nooks of this city.

What is the nighttime journey to the corners of the Louvre Abu Dhabi like?

This museum has everything art lovers desire but also offers more. Since its inauguration in 2017, the Louvre Abu Dhabi has an incredible cultural offering but also provides visitors the chance to explore this space in a different way. For this reason, the local adventure company Sea Hawk saw another opportunity to discover this place and began offering a different tour: kayaking trips for one hour at sunrise and during the “golden hour” to witness the best sunset over the waters surrounding this iconic building.

The creators of this initiative revealed that this is a diverse activity that provides the opportunity to learn about and enjoy a different perspective of the city and also to do something distinct from what the iconic museum has already proposed. “At sunset and sunrise, the skies around the Louvre transform to include dark pinks and vibrant orange tones. It’s the perfect backdrop to contemplate the most spectacular museum in the Middle East,” said Nikki Andrew, director of Sea Hawk. In this way, moonlight kayaking trips are also offered at prices ranging from 35 euros, which include life jackets, guides, water bottles, and changing areas.

A passion for art, a commitment to Paris in Abu Dhabi.

La pasión por el arte, un compromiso con París en Abu Dabi

The Louvre of Abu Dhabi is one of the most emblematic sites in the capital and already a historic destination for those who visit it. This magnificent building rises among the sands, being the first universal museum in the Arab world, which also symbolizes the wealth and cultural growth of the nation. However, this space is also a clear demonstration of the commitment to contribute to the heritage development of other destinations in Europe. For those who are not familiar with the Louvre, it shares the same name as the iconic French space because Abu Dhabi agreed with France to pay over 1.193 billion euros to use the brand for 40 years.

Meanwhile, the construction of this jewel of Abu Dhabi cost more than 800 million euros. But in these agreements, the intentions of Arab culture to contribute to the culture of other places emerge, and the government of the United Arab Emirates committed to investing 170 million euros in the restoration of the Pavillon de Flore at the Palais du Louvre in Paris. After the restoration, the pavilion will be named Pavillon de Flore Sheikh Zayed, in honor of the founder of the United Arab Emirates, according to Bouthaina Nemri, a local museum guide.
