Saadiyat Island surprises with a project that will arrive in 2025 and make history in architecture

Saadiyat Island is the protagonist of one of the most anticipated projects of 2025 in Abu Dhabi. The Zayed National Museum on Saadiyat Island will be a monument to the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, founding president of the United Arab Emirates, and will fall under the wing of the Foster + Partners company.

Beyond developments in a thriving market, this site will also mark a milestone in the city’s architecture and culture, as it is created to celebrate the history, culture, and social and economic transformation of the Emirates, as well as to honor the life and values of the aforementioned sheikh.

Foster + Partners is the company dedicated to carrying out this site that will capture the interest of any visitor to the capital of the United Arab Emirates. Among its main features, this space will include five lightweight steel towers that will mimic the wings of certain birds, located within a garden with gallery spaces situated at ground level. This space aligns with the future sustainability policies of the territory and has some features that contribute to this need.

To support sustainable development, this museum will have thermal chimneys that will draw cold air into the lower spaces and will feature cooling pipes that will release fresh air into the lobby. One of the particularities of this space is also the use of air vents, which open at the top of the wing-shaped towers, taking advantage of pressure to extract hot air.

The construction of the emblematic Zayed National Museum is one of the most anticipated projects in Abu Dhabi, and its development has taken several years, making 2025 expected to be the year of its launch, although no dates have been confirmed yet. One of the crucial objectives of this site is to become a cultural icon of Saadiyat Island.

In addition to the Zayed National Museum, the Saadiyat Cultural District will include other prominent museums such as the Guggenheim Abu Dhabi and the Louvre Abu Dhabi, giving Saadiyat Island the cultural identity it deserves. In this way, Abu Dhabi is cemented as a place where luxury and multimillion-dollar investments are fundamental, as well as spaces that promote local history and the historical role of President Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan in development.

The real estate market sets the pace for Abu Dhabi in the world, although so does its cultural level. One of the indicators of this pace is the installation of the Louvre Abu Dhabi Museum by Jean Nouvel since 2017. But after this arrival to the country, another major landmark is expected that will mark the city’s history.

In 2025, the Guggenheim will open. Designed by Frank Gehry, the impressive tubular building, whose inauguration was initially planned for 2022, is one of the most anticipated works of the decade. With its construction, the Saadiyat cultural district will become the epicenter of this kind of offering within the capital and, as the department’s president Mohamed Khalifa Al Mubarak states, “it will convey a message of cultural diversity that will become more powerful over time, creating global connections and inspiring cultural exchange.”
