This building in Abu Dhabi has surpassed the Tower of Pisa as the most leaning tower in the world

Abu Dhabi has some of the most impressive skyscrapers, and real estate investors choose the city to continue betting on architectural innovations. In Abu Dhabi, there are no limits, and in the city where all records are broken, a tower has managed to surpass the most famous one in the world.

It is the Capital Gate tower in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, which is recognized as the most inclined building on the planet, with an inclination four times greater than the iconic Leaning Tower of Pisa in Italy.

Capital Gate has 35 floors that are used for commercial purposes and have unique shapes. From the 2nd to the 16th floor, it has office spaces, but from the 18th onward, it operates a five-star hotel with all the usual luxuries of such places and a suspended pool 80 meters above ground.

This construction cost more than 231,000,000 euros and the building is about 160 meters high, built with 13,200 tons of structural steel, obtaining the Guinness record as “the most tilted building in the world”, something very common in a city like Abu Dhabi, where there are no limits in construction.

A dream design in the heart of Abu Dhabi

the design of the world’s most tilted tower, Capital Gate, is admired by architecture leaders who consider it one of their models to follow in terms of innovation and design. this space has a particular shape that recreates desert dunes and the waves of the Persian Gulf. its structure was constructed with an asymmetrical spiral tilt, creating a unique view from different angles. although engineering experts managed to turn this tower into one of the world’s impressive buildings, its construction was not easy and the tilt had its problems.

upper floors exerted pressure against the base of the structure, so an innovative system had to be developed to counteract gravitational, seismic forces and adverse weather conditions, such as strong winds in Abu Dhabi. to do so, 490 drilled piles up to 30 meters deep were used for the foundations, which are capable of maintaining a concrete slab with a 2-meter reinforcement steel mesh to distribute the forces evenly. in this way, to keep the tower standing, the construction of a central core with an opposite tilt proportional to the structure was implemented.
