Abu Dhabi offers not only luxurious experiences but also ideal spaces to enjoy the outdoors and with the family. In Abu Dhabi, one of the little-explored paradises, or at least not so exploited by marketing, is found, which nonetheless requires special attention.

The Long Salt Lake of Abu Dhabi is one of the favorite destinations for those who choose to rest from the impressive buildings and share time with children by having a barbecue. This site went viral on social networks and some influencers managed to capture the attention of users thanks to their striking photos there.

The creation of Abu Dhabi’s Long Salt Lake is artificial and its drainage is due to underground piping, making it a man-made feature. However, the amount of salt in the waters remains a true mystery. While there are no definitive studies, soil experts assure that the amount of salt in this lake is due to the composition of the land in that area which could seep into the pipes.

For those who want to visit this site, it is recommended to do so during the colder months, in November, when the area doesn’t dry out. This is because during the summer months, the high temperatures cause the water to evaporate, leaving behind a salt-covered ground.

To reach Long Salt Lake in Abu Dhabi, it is important to know that there are two lakes 50 minutes away, both with the name ‘Al Wathba’ in the title, so those who want to see it should go to the Long Salt Lake of Al Wathba. Once you arrive there by car there is no parking, so you can leave your car in the middle of the sand and climb a small dune.

Once you reach this site, the magic is just over that small mound of sand. There, the classic sand circles appear that influencers made so famous and where the most beautiful photographs were taken. Visitors can also visit another nearby space called The Reserve where they can enjoy music and light shows that take place during opening hours, as well as a variety of snacks and food trucks.
